To sign up for an area to survey for loons:

  1. First select your lake or pond from the list of lakes. Check to make sure you chose the correct lake by checking the town or verifying its location on the map.
  2. Many lakes are divided into smaller survey areas. Click “Find Survey Areas.” and the survey areas that are available will appear on the map to the right.
  3. On the map, click on the survey where you want to count loons. Note the Survey number in the information that pops-up about your lake.
  4. Select this survey number under "Select Survey Area". Note: Only survey areas that have not already been chosen by other counters are listed. If your survey isn't listed, it is no longer available.
  5. Click “Show on Map” to zoom in to your survey area on the map and get links to printable maps.
  6. Using the links provided, print your lake and survey area map, and the Loon Count data form to take with you to the loon count.

 

 

Loon Count Registration

Thanks for your interest in Maine Audubon’s annual loon count. The count happens every year on the third Saturday of July from 7:00-7:30 a.m. Once you register below, you’ll be able to log onto the loon count site every year to print your loon count materials and submit your data. If you have questions or difficulty registering, please email conserve@maineaudubon.org.

3. Loon Count Login

Below please enter the email address and password that you would like to use to login to the loon count site. Your security is important to us. Your password will be visible only to the site administrator and the Loon Project Manager at Maine Audubon, but please do not use a password that you use for other accounts. You can change or update your information at any time by logging in and clicking "Update Registration Information."

 

The email address you enter above will be the email you will use to login to the loon count site.
